Workation visas, also known as digital nomad visas or remote work visas, have become popular in various countries. With the rise of remote work and travel becoming more and more accessible, the digital nomad life some of us dream of seems more and more attainable. These visas typically allow foreign nationals to live and work in a country for an extended period, usually with the condition that they have a stable income from a job in another country. South Korea’s new Workation visa is no different.

- be at least 18 years old
- have worked in their field for at least a year
- earn an annual income of 84.96 million Won ($65.860 or 59 400€)
- Additional documents include proof of employment, criminal record, and proof of insurance covering over 100 million Won to ensure the ability to travel back home in case of emergency
This visa allows to:
- stay in Korea for a year, renewable once for an additional year. bring along spouse and children under 18 years old
- Foreigners with a B-1, B-2 or C3 visa (short term tourist visa) can apply, but this visa doesn’t allow to work for a Korean company.
- The visa is on it’s testing phase and might be adopted permanently.
It’s important to note that Korea has many different visa that allows you to move there. Some of the more popular are the English teacher visa (E-2), the entertainment visa (E-6) and the working Holiday visa (H-1), but many other options also exist.
